DOSSIER
HISTORY: Link!WHAT ARE YOUR CHARACTER'S STRENGTHS?: Agent Florida was one of the more mysterious members of the Freelancer Project, loyal to the program, dangerous- and utterly lost in the background. He didn't show the full extend of his skills or any sort of personality until the very end of the arc, simply popping up as a silent set piece now and again.
As Flowers, he gets about 5 minutes of screen time for the whole series before dying, but what we DO get is a bit more informative. For one, he's patient. Incredibly, endlessly, patient to the point of surreality. He doesn't lose his temper, doesn't lose his cool, doesn't lose his head: he just stays at that perfect Goldilocks zone of endless optimism and cheer.
Flowers has also been shown to be incredibly resourceful and resilient, utilizing the environment to his advantage. During a fight in the Freelancer arc, he turned a cargo moving arm against his enemies with his gun. This, after taking a tomahawk to his dominant shoulder while his teammates in modded armor stood around and bickered.
Additionally he also does seem to have... some leadership skills, although considering the sorts of cats he's herding, it's not exactly difficult. If nothing else, he can give them morale boosting speeches and endless emotional support.
Of course, this being RVB, there are several contradictions in characterization, mostly for humorous purposes. Or plot purposes. Or Green Alien purposes. Still don't really know what was up with that.
WHAT ARE YOUR CHARACTER'S WEAKNESSES?: He tends to give guns to people who have no business having guns, suggesting a rather skewed ability to process low level danger? He'd probably teach children how to handle guns if they asked. Not a good baby sitter, F-.
In fact, in general, he doesn't really have a good grasp on empathy and morality, but that's to be expected for someone who was apparently the secret watchdog for a secret, morally questionable project.
Also, prone to plot motivated moments of incompetence, like that one time that he apparently scrambled an AI by slipping and disconnecting a power cable. Why was the AI so easily scrambled? Why didn't he notice the AI suddenly changed personality? Again, unfortunately, this is RVB.
WHAT EVENTS OR CIRCUMSTANCES IN YOUR CHARACTER'S PAST HAVE IMPACTED THEM THE MOST?: Adopting two blue sons who have no idea he's an agent planted amongst them to monitor the Alpha AI and make sure he doesn't remember anything about Project Freelancer.
WHAT MOTIVATES YOUR CHARACTER?: See, this is a bit of a mystery. Flowers doesn't seem to be the sort to be motivated by material wealth: with his skillset, he'd probably have been making a killing going rogue and being a merc. He's also not the sort to be ensnared by morally bankrupt projects through blackmail: for one, there probably isn't a soul out there with anything about who Flowers really is, much less actual blackmail. Additionally, he doesn't really seem to be particularly loyal to the faction or most of the people he's working with: Project Freelancer essentially tore itself apart while he watched in the background, a decidedly unbeneficial event towards stopping the Insurgents.
Despite this, he follows orders to the letter, never questioning them once- onscreen, at least. And despite the lack of obvious leverages, the Counselor trusted him to keep being loyal despite essentially being made to disappear for an undetermined amount of time to keep another man's secret.
In fact, the Counselor is the only guy who seems to have any sort of knowledge about Flowers at all.
So yeah, what's up that?
WHAT IMPRESSION DO OTHERS TEND TO HAVE OF YOUR CHARACTER?: It's like talking to an unrelenting ray of sunshine. He just never stops being cheerful.
Never. You need a direct shot of optimism into your fucking veins? Just talk to this guy. He's got cookies, even!
IN WHAT WAYS DOES THAT IMPRESSION DIFFER FROM WHO YOUR CHARACTER REALLY IS?: Not too far from the truth, although most people miss the whole lack of empathy and killing thing, but that's because Butch is very good at hiding the bodies. Also, you know, the unbreakable shroud of cheerfulness that covers all traces of possible darkness.
HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER HANDLE CRISIS OR ADVERSITY?: With great cheer and possibly murder! Depending on circumstances, at least. Flowers leans Lawful Evil and he doesn't tend to cause mayhem and bloodshed just for the sake of it. If anything, he seems to rather like the peaceful life, if his acceptance of the Blood Gulch watch is any indication.
That said, he'll put a knife through your temple without batting an eye, so it's just better not to test him.
WHICH 5 THINGS WILL YOUR CHARACTER REMEMBER UPON ARRIVAL, AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THEM?: - He will remember the name Alpha, but only the name.
- He will remember the name Aiden Price and bit of the face.
- He will remember how to fight and how to handle a gun.
- He will remember the name Agent Florida and know that it's him, somehow.
- He will remember the location name Blood Gulch.
All of these are integral to his character or potentially interesting CR points.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU FEEL WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER?: Asides from a dedication to the villainous theme of flowers? He's, well, a Red VS Blue character, a fan-created Halo spin-off created by a group of LPers. In fact, the main reason why Flowers died was to give one of the main characters a revelation about being a 'team-killing fuckt*rd', a long running joke in the series.
That said, he was also in the arc of the story where things take a turn for the Gritty and Serious, so how Serious he gets is probably going to be more dependant on meta-fun times. In-setting, he is probably pretty weird-leaning-disturbing to some potential CR.
SKILLS, ABILITIES, & PHYSICAL WEAKNESSES: Strengths:
- Pretty freaking great at murderizing people for someone so short.
- Related to the above: is a great shot and terrifyingly good at melee.
- Psychological warfare! I mean, that cheerfulness isn't JUST for show, you know.
- Interrogation! Or at least he showed a little bit of this skill assessing the Alpha after he woke up.
- Saboteur! Was almost definitely the Counselor's watchdog planted amongst the Freelancers.
- Being an unrelenting source of emotional support! And dad jokes. Or daddy jokes. Don't ask about the latter, the writers were gamer bros.
- Sees in the dark pretty damn well for a human and has superhuman reflexes!
- Ridiculously high pain tolerance! (Seriously, axe to the arm and still kept shooting with a gun that's got a decent amount of recoil)
Weaknesses:
- Terrible fashion sense! Look, he's probably worn nothing but armor and military clothes for a good chunk of his life.
- Has a nasty tomahawk scar that still causes some weakness in his right arm.
- Pretty average human strength!
- Aspirin allergy from hell! Seriously, Alpha unintentionally killed him with it.
INVENTORY: -
His gloriously teal armor!- A loaded sniper rifle!
- Rubber compound undersuit!
- Underwear!
- A dagger!
- A pistol! (With a sedative round. Mostly because canon is contradictory as hell.)
